About the Session:
Explore the concept of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and its five core skills. Learn to identify and understand your own emotions, laying the groundwork for improved self-awareness and self-regulation. Learn what social skills are and how they work in relationship management through influence, persuasion, rapport and empathy.
Discover strategies to develop your resilience through flexible thinking and mindfulness. Several resilience techniques will be introduced through key tools and strategies that can be quickly implemented to increase one’s resilience levels. These skills and tools learned in this workshop will help to develop one’s mindset further to improve decision making, relationships and overall wellbeing.
By the end of this Masterclass, you'll have a deeper insight into your own level of Emotional Intelligence and how that influences how you interact with others. You will also walk away with key strategies to grow resilience in both your personal and professional life.
This Masterclass delivery will utilize a variety of mediums to maximize retention of the concepts introduced in a way that is cognizant of diverse learning capabilities and styles. The session will utilize visual tools, group activities, self-led exercises, classroom discussions and quizzes throughout our delivery. The participants will be supplied with printed handouts that flow with the presentation program and allow room for notetaking.
About the Speaker:
Karin is a skilled educator with over 20 years of experience learning and growing as a primary grades teacher, high school teacher, outdoor educator, instructor, coach and mentor. She is a recently certified Instructional Designer with a passion for curriculum design and development with Indigenous Communities. Karin has also recently trained in Coaching Leadership. Karin has taught a wide range of participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, neurodivergent learning styles and ranging in age from young to old. She has co-developed education curriculum with First Nations groups, championed STEM education for girls and women, taught and developed curriculum for Waldorf Schools and worked as an outdoor educator in Ontario and British Columbia. As a Squamish resident, Karin greatly values our growing and vibrant community, as well as acknowledges the ancestral lands we work and play upon.
Karin holds a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from Royal Roads University, and Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from Queen’s University Canada.
